Snoring and Sleep Apnea

The noisy sounds of snoring occur when there is an obstruction to the flow of air through the passages at the back of the mouth and nose. When loud snoring is interrupted by frequent episodes of totally obstructed breathing, it is known as obstructive sleep apnea. Serious episodes of apnea last more than ten seconds each and occur more than 12 times per hour.

Treatment of snoring and sleep apnea depends on the cause. A thorough examination will reveal if the snoring is caused by nasal allergy, infection, deformity, or enlarged tonsils and adenoids. Once the cause is determined, our doctors will work with you to find the best treatment option for your situation.
